Imagine being completely at ease camping and canoeing on a river, relaxed and open to the sights, sounds, smells and feel of the river. Envision the green of the leaves, the yellow of the flowers and the silvery sparkle of the sun's reflections. Hear the sounds of songbirds as well as the gentle lapping of the river. Feel the breeze as it brings rich river smells!
Canoe Reflections LLC provides canoe-camping experiences for women on Michigan's serene Manistee River just north of Cadillac, Michigan. We camp along the river on State Forest land, setting up our own sites. Those with little or no paddling experience are most welcome - guidance in handling a canoe and setting up camp is provided by Sally Van Cise, A.C.A. certified canoe instructor and river guide.
We offer both three- and one-day canoe trips. The three-day trips have a moderate pace, allowing women to simply relax and "be" on the river as they paddle, camp and explore a bit. Canoe day trips are also moderately paced and include paddling, lunch, and time for stopping as desired. Group size is kept small:
2-4 women. Most equipment and food is provided.
This is an opportunity to leave your routines, distractions and roles of everyday life and simply 'be' on the river. You can experience what happens in a beautiful place by or on the water, when you are quiet and open. On the river, "deadlines" disappear. The mind stills.
You will have plenty of time to explore this beauty as you paddle, walk, sit, or lie in a grassy field, listening to the wind and watching the clouds.
