Sally Van Cise has been canoeing and camping since
she was quite young. As a child and teen, she went
on family canoe trips in Northern Minnesota. Since
then, she has traveled and camped in several areas
of the West, Nepal, the Boundary Waters, Southern
Ontario, and Northern Michigan. On many of her
trips she traveled solo, enjoying the beauty of
Nature.
Sally enrolled in several courses through Outward
Bound, National Outdoor Leadership School, and
the American Alpine Institute. These courses emphasized
safe outdoor practices, natural education processes,
and low-impact Leave-No-Trace camping skills.
Sally
has a Master’s
Degree in Public Health Nutrition, and a Masters
of Education in Exercise
Science. Currently she works full time as a Registered
Dietitian for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe
in Mt Pleasant, Michigan.
